What are Wax Melts?

Wax melts are scented pieces of wax without a wick. They come in different shapes and sizes. A wax melt can give off a slight scent when cold; however, they are designed to be slowly warmed using a tart or wax warmer. A wax warmer can be electric while others use a tea light as the heating source.

How do I use a Wax Melt?
If you are using an electric wax burner, place a piece or two of your favourite wax melt into bowl. Then you simply switch your burner on to heat and melt the wax to release the fragrance. Electric burners are a good option as they are flame-free so can be seen as a safer alternative.

If you are using a classic Tealight heated burner (for example, one made from ceramic, glass or metal), you will also place your wax melt into the dished area and then heat from below with a lit tea light.

How do I remove wax from my burner?

There are a few ways to remove an old wax melt from your burner. One popular way is to heat the cooled wax for around a minute and then it should simply slide straight out. Others like to completely melt the wax and then pop in a couple of cotton pads to soak the wax straight up for removal.

Guidance when using a tea lit warmer

-
Do not touch or move the wax melt burner when lit or wax is melted. This will be hot and will burn you and the hot wax will spill onto you or the surroundings.
-
Wax melts should only be used in appropriate wax melt burners. Add one piece of the wax melt pack at a time until the required melted wax fill is reached. Do not overfill the wax melt burner initially as the wax will spill over. Do not use metal or sharp objects to clean out wax as this may crack or damage the burner or cause injury.
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended or move it when lit.
-
Remove all packaging before use.
-
Only use with a good quality tea-light. Do not use with a maxi tea-light, votive or other candles.
-
Keep the Wax Melt Burner and tea-light out of the reach of children and pets.
-
Do not burn the tea-light or leave the wax melt burner on or near anything that can catch fire.
-
Ensure the wax melt burner is well ventilated. There must be at least 6.5cm of space above the flame within the wax melt burner.
-
Keep foreign objects out of the wax pool.
-
Extinguish the tea-light if the flame becomes enlarged, makes contact with the wax melt burner, or begins to smoke.
-
Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. Once extinguished allow wax melt burner to cool before moving.
